I have now put them in the microwave for 8 minutes to see if I can get them to cook. The pumpkin long since turned to mash…. Not sure why my lentils are still crunchy I followed the recipe exactly, until I tried it after 6 hours on high and they were still crunchy, so have been trying everything to get them to cook

Another brilliantly simple recipe, the butternut squash adds a nice sweetness and the Dahl was hearty and warming. 100 ml of stock turned out to be enough. The only thing I added was some garam masala to finish as the Tikka masala paste I chose wasn’t very punchy. I served it with the paneer, a homemade yogurt and mint raita, mango chutney, a sprinkle of corriander and naans & it went down a treat!

This was a lovely tasty dish, very enjoyable. However I found the butternut squash didn’t really add anything (apart from bulk). It didn’t taste of much at all. Has anyone made this with chicken instead of the squash?

The measurements really didn’t work for us – not enough liquid. Good taste but would’ve burned badly if we weren’t keeping an eye on it
