Agreed. I did that as well and then deglazed the pan, tossing with the veggies before putting in the baking dish.

Overall, it is an okay recipe. A little gluggy. I required an extra 10 minutes cooking time as my orzo was not al dente yet. It is a dish that is easy to tailor to your personal tastes.
